Hello, Perkins Community!

My name is Tara Maring, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Mildred Perkins Elementary School. At Perkins, we take great pride in fostering a caring and supportive community where students feel safe, welcomed, and excited to learn.

Our dedicated staff is committed to nurturing a love for learning and inspiring every student to reach their full potential. We strive to create student-centered classrooms that promote active engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking.

To further support student success, we offer a comprehensive intervention program led by our Learning Director, Mrs. Ammon. This program provides targeted academic support for students who need additional assistance, using research-based curriculum and careful progress monitoring to ensure growth and achievement.

Beyond the classroom, we provide a variety of enriching opportunities to enhance students’ educational experiences, including PE, Art, Music, dances, field trips, and STEAM activities.

We also continue to reinforce positive behavior through our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) model, which teaches clear expectations and recognizes students who exemplify the “3 Rs” — Respectful, Responsible, and Ready. Students earn Rocket Bucks, which they can redeem at our Rocket Store. We celebrate their achievements through monthly assemblies and special luncheons, acknowledging their hard work and success.

Additionally, our Parent Teacher Club (PTC) plays a vital role in enriching our students' education by supporting field trips, assemblies, and school activities. We warmly invite all parents, guardians, and caregivers to join us and get involved!
